Local Patient Gives Back to the Eastside Emergency Dental Clinic

Last year, Timothy Tadege came to a volunteer clinic in the Downtown Eastside with fillings and some problem teeth. He didn’t have enough money to pay for dental services and hoped that the volunteer team at the Eastside Emergency Dental Clinic would be able to help him out.

After a few hours of intense work, Timothy walked out of the clinic pain-free with a big smile on his face. He didn’t know a place like this existed and was so grateful for the clinic’s services that he wanted to let the community know about its existence.

At this time, the clinic was hoping to purchase a $5,000 sterilizing machine for the office. In order to show his appreciation, Timothy wanted to return the favour by helping them to raise the money for this machine. He talked to newspapers about this clinic to try to spread the word and raise donations.

The Eastside Emergency Dental Clinic on 455 East Hastings Street in Vancouver provides free treatment for those who have little or no income in the Downtown Eastside. To this date, the clinic is still going strong and has more demand than they have ever had before. They are open two days a week and have wait times that last up to an hour and a half.
