We Support The Salvation Army

We Support The Salvation Army

For too many Canadians, the necessities of life needed for basic human dignity are out of reach, making access to everyday needs like food, clothing and shelter difficult.

123Dentist is proud to support the Salvation Army in its 127th Annual Christmas Kettle Campaign. Their goal is to raise $21 million dollars this year, and we’ve tried to do our part.

During our biennial holiday party, we were pleased to present a cheque for $20,000 to Wayne Thompson of the BC Division of the Salvation Army. In addition, our staff and doctors donated another $2,000 in the Christmas Kettles set up at the event, and in other cash donations, for a grand total of $22,000.

Remembrance Day – Why We Remember

Remembrance Day – Why We Remember

We wanted to provide some insight and background on what Remembrance Day is about, and to also let everyone know about many of the events that are happening around the lower mainland.

Many of us grow up accustomed to watching the services or parades on November 11th, but a large number of people living here now may be unaware of the meaning behind the tradition.

poppy-on-jacket-resizeSo whether you’ve been aware of Remembrance Day your whole life and still don’t quite know why we do it, or whether you’ve never heard of it before and the whole thing is new, we hope that this post will shed some light on the matter.

Over $1500 Raised For Cancer Research!

Over $1500 Raised For Cancer Research!

Our Free Oral Cancer Screenings Were A Huge Success!

On April 17th, in honour of Oral Cancer Awareness Month, we offered free VELScope oral cancer screenings at all of our lower mainland locations. The funds raised through donations totalled approximately $1,500 and have been donated to the BC Cancer Agency. Our screenings also raised awareness about the dangers of oral cancer and brought peace of mind to many people who now know that they are oral cancer free. We want to say thank you to all of our new and existing patients who took the time to be screened and gave donations to support cancer research.

South Point Dental Gives Back With The Cambodian Children’s Fund

A Note From the Editor: This blog was originally published by 123 Dentist Member Clinic South Point Dental on their blog. It is reposted here with permission.

South Point Dental believes in giving back to the community through charities and groups in Surrey, and recently became involved in an international project through the Cambodian Children’s Fund. The Fund was created by Hollywood movie mogul Scott Neeson, who visited Cambodia and was compelled to take action after witnessing the human tragedy on display in a garbage dump near Steung Meanchey. Today the Cambodian Children’s Fund provides support for over 2000 children and families in need.

Local Patient Gives Back to the Eastside Emergency Dental Clinic

Local Patient Gives Back to the Eastside Emergency Dental Clinic

Last year, Timothy Tadege came to a volunteer clinic in the Downtown Eastside with fillings and some problem teeth. He didn’t have enough money to pay for dental services and hoped that the volunteer team at the Eastside Emergency Dental Clinic would be able to help him out.

After a few hours of intense work, Timothy walked out of the clinic pain-free with a big smile on his face. He didn’t know a place like this existed and was so grateful for the clinic’s services that he wanted to let the community know about its existence.
